Day 1: Fes – Midelt – Merzouga desert

Today we will start our 6 DAYS DESERT TOUR FROM FES towards the desert at Merzouga, driving by the town of Ifrane. We will reach the cedar forests in the Middle Atlas regions, in which you will get to watch wild macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. Then we will stop by the town of Midelt to have lunch while enjoying the views of the Moulouya River.

Back on the road, we will drive through another high mountain pass called Tizin Talremt, leading us to the breathtaking Ziz Valley. This valley is famous for its impressive groves of palm trees and beautiful greenery. We will arrive at Erfoud, also known as the capital of fossils, where we will pay a visit to one of the local fossil workshops so that you can see how the process works. After this we will continue driving until we reach the Sahara desert, arriving at the very famous sea of dunes of Erg Chebbi. This erg covers an area of 35 square kilometers, where endless dunes are constantly changing and forming according to the movement of the wind. We will spend the night in a hotel near the dunes.

Day 2: Merzouga desert 4×4 tour and camel trekking

We will start our 6 DAYS DESERT TOUR FROM FES today by visiting the neighboring Khamlia village, which a traditional simplistic desert village knew for its catching indigenous Gnaoua music. We will walk around the village for a little bit, before leaving in order to enjoy the rest of our desert exploration. You can choose to try out one of the many available desert activities, such as sandboarding, renting out quads, or sand bathing if you’re visiting during the summer. When the day nears its end, we will go back to our hotel to spend the night.

Day 3: Merzouga desert tour + camel trekking

For our second day in the desert, we will travel deeper in order to spot one of the many nomadic families in the area and learn more about their way of living. You will have the rest of the day for yourself, so you can spend it doing whatever Sahara activity that you like. Finally, we will head to our desert camp in the evening, where you will get to try traditional food, a specialty of the area. You will spend a magical night surrounded by the dune, accompanied by traditional Berber music. You will sleep in a nomadic-style desert tent.

Day 4: Merzouga desert – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

We strongly advise you to wake up early this next day of the 6 DAYS DESERT TOUR FROM FES in order to watch the breathtaking desert sunrise, after which we will head back to our hotel (riding on camels again) to have breakfast and get to chance to shower. Then we will head to the towns of Rissani and Erfoud in order to stop by one of the local fossilized marble workshops.

After that, we will continue driving by the towns of Tinjdad and Tinghir until we reach the Todra gorges. These are a series of rock formations caused by the Todra River over the years, leaving behind a beautiful trail of cliffs attracting climbers from all around the world. You will get to freely walk around the place to grasp the beauty of its landscapes, enjoying the freshwater of the small river running below. Finally, we will arrive at the Dades gorges, where we will be provided with dinner and accommodation in either a hotel or a traditional Riad.

Day 5: Dades Gorges – Ouarzazatte – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Today we will start driving towards Marrakech, reaching the Hollywood of Morocco: the city of Ouarzazate. Ouarzazate has been given this for being home to the most important movie studios in Morocco, which you can visit during our tour here.

After lunch, we will head to the star of the desert: the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This Kasbah is a recognized UNESCO world heritage site, dating back to the 11th century when it used to play an important role in the trade route connecting merchants from the sub-Sahara with the rest of Morocco. Then we will drive by the famous mountain pass of Tizin Tichka, which is 2260 meters high. This will allow you to get breathtaking views of the mountain landscapes and the villages of the area. Finally, we will reach Marrakech in the late afternoon. After checking in at the hotel, you can spend the rest of the day exploring Marrakech.

Day 6: Marrakech

For the last day of the 6 DAYS DESERT TOUR FROM FES, we will try to cover as many monuments as we can in Marrakech before the departure of your flight. This includes the Koutoubia Minaret, the Saadines tomb, the Bahia Palace, the beautiful Menara, or Majorelle gardens. Finally, we will drop you off at the airport depending on your flight schedule.
